Opovo municipality extends to the southern part of the Banat region and has a very favorable geographical and strategic position. The proximity of three large centers – Belgrade, Pan
evo and Zrenjanin – provides a number of possibilities, such as the placement of agricultural produce on city markets, employment, continuing education, monitoring of cultural, sports and other.

Opovo municipality belongs to the South Banat District. According to the 2004. data, the municipality occupies an area of 203 km² (of which 16,772 hectares are left on the agricultural surface, and 71 ha are in the forest).

The seat of the municipality is the settlement of Opovo. According to the 2011. data in the municipality lived 10,440 inhabitants. The number of employees in the municipality is 1,214 people. There are 4 elementary schools in the municipality. Opovo Municipality is one of the smallest municipalities in Vojvodina and consists of four settlements.
