Tamiš, at the entrance to Serbia, flows through the municipality of Secanj. The number of inhabitants of the municipality is about sixteen thousand, divided into eleven settlements (of which the ones located on the coast of Tamis or directly beside it are bold):

Banatska Dubica, Boka, Busenje, Jarkovac, Jaša Tomić, Konak, Krajišnik, Neuzina, Sečanj, Sutjeska and Šurjan.

The Municipality of Secanj has an irregular shape, it covers an area of 523 km2 and includes 11 settlements. It takes the territory of the Central Banat in the basin of Begej, Tamiš and Brzava. In the north, it borders the Zitište municipality, in the northwest with the municipality of Zrenjanin, in the south with the municipalities of Kovačica and Alibunar, in the southeast with the Plandište municipality. The eastern border of the municipality is the state border to Romania. The Municipality of Secanj is very well connected with the neighboring municipalities. The most important colleges that cross the territory of the municipality are the railway line and the main road M-7/1 Zrenjanin-Sečanj-Vršac, as well as the railway that leads through Jaša Tomić towards Timisoara. Due to the difficult situation in the railways, these two railways have not been in operation for a long time, and due to the growing needs of the population and the ongoing economy, the provincial and local authorities are making every effort to re-establish passenger and freight traffic.
